Dimitar Iliev began his youth career with FC Lokomotiv Plovdiv. In the period from 2009 to 2013 he defended the colors of several Bulgarian teams - PFC CSKA Sofia, FC Minyor Pernik, OFC Pirin Blagoevgrad, PFC Montana and FC Lokomotiv Sofia. Then four seasons in Poland would follow - 3 years at FC Wisla Plosk and one at FC Podbeskidzie.
In summer 2018 Dimitar has rejoined PFC Lokomotiv receiving the captain's band and winning the Bulgarian Cup (2018/19). His leadership and impressive playmaking skills were obvious soon after that in the Europa League competition as he scored two important goals in the second qualifying round.
Dimitar Iliev was pronounced Bulgaria’s “Best striker” and “Player of the Year” for 2019 during the annual football ceremony organized by the Bulgarian Football Union and partners.
In the super successful 2019/20 Iliev and Loko brought the Bulgarian Cup and the Bulgarian Supercup trophies to Plovdiv. He recently registered 250 appearances in Bulgarian football.
