Ilko Pirgov spent his youth career at OFC Pirin Gotse Delchev. At only 16-years old (2002) he debuted in professional football vs PFC Lokomotiv Plovdiv.
He signed with PFC CSKA Sofia in 2004 and stayed there for 3 seasons. His performance earned him a transfer to Romanian FC Otopeni. After a short period at the club he returned to Bulgaria - in PFC Cherno more Varna. The beginning of 2012 marked his stay at FC Litex Lovech which was also current playing champion in the country.
In summer 2016 (after some months at PFC Cherno more Varna again and PFC Beroe) he put the Lokomotiv jersey on and left a big mark in the journey of winning the 2018/19 Bulgarian Cup.
The Cup comes to Plovdiv in the next year as well. Pirgov was the keeper who saved Ali Sowe's (CSKA-Sofia) try at the penalty kick-outs (PFC CSKA-Sofia 3:5 Lokomotiv) at the final game in Sofia and lifted the trophy with Loko. In the successful 2019/20 campaign Lokomotiv also won the Bulgarian Supercup.
