Today (July 23rd) officially marked the launching of the 3rd edition of the U17 International Football Tournament HRISTO BONEV TROPHY.
The opening ceremony at Iskar stadium in Samokov was attended by the respected Mr. Vladimir Georgiev - Mayor of the town of Samokov and Mr. Valentin Milushev - MP. Mr. Hristo Bonev, whom the competition is named after, wished good luck to all teams participating and also appealed for supporting the development of youth football in the country.
This year eight youth teams (born 2003 and 2004) will take part in the tournament. They are: Lokomotiv Plovdiv, Ludogorets Razgrad, CSKA 1948 Sofia, Slavia Sofia, Vardar Skopje (Republic of North Macedonia), Vancouver Olympics (Canada), FCSB Bucarest (Romania) and Buducnost Podgorica (Montenegro).
Four matches were already played today in Samokov. Ludogorets and FCSB went 1:1. Another draw brought the Slavia and Buducnost game (2:2). Later today Vardar Skopje defeated CSKA 1948 by 3:1, while Lokomotiv won 3:0 over Vancouver Olympics.
